Running Biomechanics – How do elite runners run?
If local fast runners and world class runners are all spinning at the same 90 to 95 rpm’s, then how are the world class runners generating such a long stride length? If local fast runners and world class runners all have stride frequencies of 90 to 95 rpm’s what is the difference? Why are the world class guys running so much faster? If they have the same frequency as the local runners, who are running 4 or 5 minutes slower for a 10k race then the difference is stride length.
